Event Description

After a successful event in 2016, Glasgow Mountain Bike Club are hosting another SMBO event and we’ll showing you great riding there is on offer north of Glasgow. Starting in Milngavie, the event will take place predominantly in Mugdock Country Park and the surrounding areas, including parts of the West Highland Way.

At last years event, the age range spanned 50 years and everyone came back with a smile on their face so we will be aiming for more of the same. The course takes in woodland, moors and even a castle. A mix of walkers paths, fire roads, some fun technical trails and hills mean the event suitable for all abilities whether you just want to have fun or are looking for more of a challenge.

This will be a 3 hour event, based at the GMBC HQ at Mingavie and Bearsden Sports Club. The sports club has toilets, changing facilities and showers available. There will be soup and cake provided after the event to help you refuel.

There is a large carpark at the club, please take the first left as you enter the club and use the gravel car park. Milngavie Railway Station is close by (0.5 mile) for those wishing to minimise their carbon footprint, with regular trains from Glasgow city centre.

Event Timetable

  • 9:00-10:30am Registration

    Sign in & receive your electronic dibber and checkpoint description.

    Review the blank map and familiarise yourself with any one-way trails, map notes or out of bounds restrictions.

  • 9:30-11:00 Start Window

    Dib to start the clock and collect your map.

  • 3 Hours Race!

    You have 90 minutes from when you start to collect as many points as possible. Each minute you’re late you lose points on an increasing scale so how far do you go?

  • 14:30 Finish

    Any more than 30 minutes late and you lose all your points!

  • 3pm Results & Prizes

    Find out how you did both in category and overall.

Event Organiser

For the 2017 Mugdock event Glasgow Mountain Bike Club is the event organiser. As well as planning the map and checkpoint location they are responsible for entry and timing, catering and general running of the event.
