Event Description

A special Day/Night event to finish the 2016 season off.
If you’ve not tried this before, this is an ideal starter event because it’s not too hilly and is being run in two parts so you can have a rest and revise tactics in between the two halves.
Sign up early, tickets will be +£5 on the day
Enter this event and support your local trails, we’re putting back any profit from this event into Bespoke, the community group who were instrumental in the creation and maintenance of many of the trails we’re using for the event.

SMBO Event Info

Greenrig Cycles

Our Start/Finish is just outside the LBS, Greenrig Cycles. They’re kindly providing access to mains power so we don’t need to run a generator for the timing gear or warm the soup.

Another great advantage is that they have a fully tooled up workshop so if you have any mechanical issues you spot as you arrive or whilst out on the first half of the event then there’s still hope.

They also stock a range of clothing so if you forget something or it rains and your gloves get wet you can also pop in to buy a second pair for the night stage. In addition, they have a selection of energy bars and gels for those who need a boost.

Bespoke Community Development Company

Bespoke Community Development Company is a company owned by members from the local community, largely from the Falkirk area. Their mission is to carry out activities which benefit the community and in particular to promote the sustainable development of outdoor leisure and recreational facilities in the Falkirk area including the operation, maintenance, development, improvement and promotion of the public access network in the Falkirk area.

All good stuff so we’re putting any profit from this event back into the team that help build, maintain and develop the trails in the area. Your entry fee will cover not only Insurance, Maps, Catering, etc. but anything left over will go back into the trails/local area. Feel free to donate on the day and we’ll make sure the money goes to a good cause.

From Falkirk town centre, head towards Slamannan, at the roundabout take the exit after the Slamannan Road and head up Lochgreen Road. The car park is located about 1 mile from the round about on the right hand side of the road.

  • 12:00 - 13.30 Registration

    Sign in & receive your electronic dibber and checkpoint description.

    Review the blank map and familiarise yourself with any one-way trails, map notes or out of bounds restrictions.

  • 13:45 - 14:45 Day Stage - Start Window

    Dib to start the clock and collect your map.

  • 90 Minutes Race!

    You have 90 minutes from when you start to collect as many points as possible. Each minute you’re late you lose points on an increasing scale so how far do you go?

  • 16:30 Day Stage - Cut-Off

    Any more than 15 minutes late and you lose all your points!

  • 16:45 Day Stage - Results

    Find out how many points you’ve earned in the first part of this event.

  • 17:15-17:30 Night Stage - Start Window

    Make sure your lights are ready, dib and grab your next map for the dark stage.

  • 90 minutes Race!

    Same as before, you have 90 minutes to collect as many points as possible. This time, it’s dark and it’s a bit harder to orientate yourself.

  • 19:15 Night Stage - Cut-Off

    If you’re not back within 1:45:00 of starting, you lose all your points.

  • 19:30 Results & Prizes

    Find out how you did both in category and overall.

    There will be a bonfire too.

Event Organiser

For the 2016 Falkirk event Marc Crowley is the event organiser. As well as planning the map and checkpoint location he is responsible for entry and timing, home baking and general running of the event.
