Dukes Discovery (Trossachs) – 21/9/2019 11am

Saturday 21 September, 2019 – Registration from 10am, Event Starts from 11am

The Dukes Discovery takes you on an adventure through the heart of the Trossachs. With six lochs, the largest native woodland regeneration programme in the UK and trails & paths aplenty this is an event for racers and pacers. Recent path maintenance works mean some new tracks and loop options are back in action – rock garden anyone?

We have a LATER start time on Saturday to coordinate with the Wee Duke Triathlon and make the most of a stunning September day in the forests. Why not make a weekend of it and Tri on the Sunday as well?

For those who remember the glorious May riding in 2017, we will be finishing again at the Long Barns for the usual teas, cakes and, for a first, ice cream direct from the Achray Farm micro-dairy next door.

Join us in a family friendly outdoor treasure hunt where you choose the course!

This is a 3-hour event. Brig o’ Turk is nestled at the foot of Glen Finglas, on the Great Trossachs Path between Lochs Venachar and Achray.

Score as many points as you can by visiting controls with electronic timing. The control locations are designed to help you discover the best riding in the area with terrain from challenging to *almost* flat lochside paths. New routes are still being added to the map.

You choose which controls you can get to score the most points — just be back within the time limit or start loosing points by the minute! Mapping will be familiar OS 1:50,000 style, enlarges for the area and enhanced for clarity and with new tracks marked on. Controls are pre-marked on the map that you get at the start.

Registration is from 10am with start window from 11am until noon. All riders back by 3:30pm with results (prizes!) around 4pm. Teas and cake will be available. Pairs and family entry categories are a great way to start for newcomers.

For family and friends not riding, come along and visit the Woodland Trust Visitor Gateway for walks and guides, head up to Loch Katrine (5 mins drive) or just have a Sunday morning in the famous Tearoom.

Parking will be tight, please be considerate of residents access and use the area to the rear of the hall where possible. We may have overflow parking nearby. On-the-day entry will require a day-rider registration and will be £5 extra to encourage pre-registration. It really is essential for the organisers to know numbers well in advance for catering, timekeeping and marshalling.

For rules, kit list and other events, see the overview page for 2019.
